Today, October 29, 2012 marks a special occasion… The new Relaj water bottles have arrived in our warehouse and the Relaj web store is now open for business! Our dream of a performance water bottle for cyclists is now a reality…allowing for increased safety while hydrating. That’s the good news.
BUT…our initial production order was purposefully small. Our product engineers encouraged a slow ramp-up as the responsible way for companies to introduce new products… just in case… This advise, nonewithstanding the extensive testing of the bottles over the past 3 years.
We’ve adjusted designs, components, and material formulations to address all conceivable issues – leakage, breakage, dishwasher damage, and more. HOWEVER…
Even with the meticulous testing, our engineers still cautioned us to go small, at least for the first couple of production runs. The unexpected can happen, in part, because manufacturing production environments may not exactly replicate the R&D environments where initial testing occurs. While the tools and materials are the same, the people, processes and equipment used in manufacturing can differ – potentially leading to unexpected results. Of course, we put tight quality control measures in place; and any quality issues discovered by our customers will be addressed.
Long story short: quantities are limited. But we are doing everything we can to satisfy the initial demand and make sure we don’t run out.
